All lessons follow a scope & sequence, and are taught to mastery. Lesson focus includes:

Phonological Awareness (as needed)

• letter sounds, onset-rime, syllables

Decoding (Reading)

• letter sounds, syllable identification & syllable division

• accuracy, fluency, comprehension

• words in isolation, sentences, short stories

Encoding (Spelling)

• systematic and multi-sensory methods to divide syllables, detect letter sounds & write/type

• self-check method to find errors

Writing

• letter formation, placement & spacing (as needed)

• basic grammar skills and sentence structure

Writing (only) lessons are customized to meet the individualized need(s) of each student. Lesson focus may include:

Grade Specific Need

• skills to meet a particular grade-level standard

• personalization to meet the needs of your ELA class

Writing Structure

• common grammar and punctuation errors

• sentence structure and fluency

• paragraph and/or essay organization

• textual evidence, making inferences, analysis, and conclusions

• tone and mood

*Writing (only) lessons are a best fit for students grade 7 and up. 30-minute writing lessons may be available.
