The real stuff…

Let’s be honest, the variety of things to consider when trying to help your struggling child can be overwhelming. It was for me. My mom gut had a feeling I couldn’t quite put my finger on, and my concerns had been dismissed by well intentioned educators that told me not to worry… for years. I continued to ask a ridiculous number of questions, and eventually was lucky enough to find a community that could help.

We discovered that dyslexia runs in our family. After years of continuing education classes, the right kind of tutoring, hard-fought advocacy, tears, anger, celebration and joy, my philosophy is this:

Dyslexia should never prevent any student from finding success.

However…

Dyslexia is the ultimate road trip. There will be frustration, unexpected delays, and even boredom. It’s a road that many families travel, yet somehow finding other cars that look similar to yours can prove to be very difficult. Not everyone will be able to relate to the hours and effort it takes to accomplish what are often considered everyday tasks; they might even think you’re lazy! Dyslexia is invisible, however the signs are always there and the people that road trip on this journey with you need to be the ones that will take the time to help navigate the GPS and get creative when you still have no idea where you are. (trust me)

When you consider tutoring services from My Learning Light, I’m committed to discussing all of the questions you need answered to get you to your next destination. Since 2014, I’ve been helping students make measurable, academic progress. I will also do everything I can to help your student learn how to navigate the transition from dependent student to independent graduate.

I’ve been right where you are, and I can help.
