The real stuff…

Casey Condon-Yu

Let’s be honest… the variety of things to consider when trying to help your struggling child can be overwhelming. It was for me. My mom gut had a feeling I couldn’t quite put my finger on, and my concerns had been dismissed by others… for years. Nevertheless, I continued to ask questions.

Over time, we discovered that dyslexia is a trait woven into our family. With ongoing education and advocacy, focused tutoring, and a giGANtic rollercoaster of emotions, my strong belief is that dyslexia should never prevent any student from finding success.

However…

Dyslexia is the ultimate road trip. There will be frustration, unexpected delays, and even boredom. It’s a road that many families travel, yet it can often feel like you will never see anyone else on the same path. Not everyone will relate to the hours of effort it takes to accomplish what are often considered everyday tasks; they might even imply you’re lazy!

Dyslexia is invisible… but the signs are always there, and the people who ride in this car with you need to be the ones willing to read the map, reset the GPS, and still get creative when you have no idea where you are. (Trust me!)

When you consider tutoring services from My Learning Light, I'm committed to discussing all of the questions you need answered to get you to your next destination. Since 2014, I've been helping students make measurable academic progress. I will also do everything I can to help your child discover how to navigate the transition from dependent student to independent graduate.

I’ve been right where you are, and I can help.
